What is a text message?
Text messaging or Short Message Service (SMS), is a service offered by most wireless service providers and available on the vast majority of today's mobile phones. You can use it to send and receive short messages (up to 160 characters) to communicate with friends or get information from services like Coupster. The act of sending a text message can be referred to as texting.

Is text messaging like instant messaging?
No. Instant messaging on your cell phone requires a data plan and additional software. Text messaging does not.

How do I know if my phone has SMS?
92% of all phones in the U.S now support SMS, so the chances are high that your phone is SMS capable. To find out, look under the messaging options menu on your phone or contact your mobile service provider.

What if I don’t have a cell phone?
A cell-phone is recommended to use our service. The system does work on the web and the coupons can be printed out at home.

How long does it take to receive a text message?
Text messaging is usually instant. They may take up to 30-60 seconds depending on your provider’s network.

How do I redeem a coupon that is on my cell phone?
Coupons are automatically sent to your cell phone via text message. Text messages can be viewed immediately as well as saved to your phone to view later. When you are ready to use a coupon, just retrieve the text message and show it to the cashier. They will record the id number shown in the coupon and honor the coupon on the spot.

How much will this service cost me?
There is no monthly membership fee to use Coupster. Coupster does not charge for our services because our merchants pay to advertise with us; this advertising supports the service for you! Message & Data rates may apply.

Do I have to pay long distance charges for text messages?
No, but you may have SMS charges. This depends on your wireless provider's service plan. Most plans come with some sort of bucket, such as 500-1000 SMS messages, for an additional monthly charge of $5-$10. When SMS messaging is not included in service plans, most U.S. carriers charge users between $.10 and $.25 per message. Coupster doesn't charge the consumers for its services.

How do I know when a coupon expires?
Coupons expire 24 hours after they are sent to your cell phone. The date will be displayed in the coupon.

Can I use the same coupon twice?
No. Each coupon will have a unique number assigned to that appears on the text message. The merchants will have these numbers for verification purposes.

How many coupons can I get each month?
Each merchant can place 3 coupons per month on the service. You have access to every coupon placed by every vendor in the system. Thus you have access to thousands of coupons per month.

Can I forward the deals I get through text messages to my friends and family?
Although coupons are unique to each subscriber and cannot be shared, you are more than welcomed to share the deal alerts you receive from vendors.

Are you going to spam my cell phone?
Coupster does not send unsolicited messages to your phone. Coupster only sends you the coupons you select through the IVR or the Coupster website, and the deal alerts you select when you sign up. There are also limits on how often and how many deal alerts you receive. You can change your preferences regarding deal alerts any time and as often as you want. You can unsubscribe at anytime with no questions asked. Please see our privacy protection policy for more information.

How safe is my phone number and what do you do with it?
Coupster has implemented secure server software (SSL) which encrypts all of your information. Coupster will not, under any circumstances, sell or otherwise distribute your cell phone numbers to third parties or to the vendors on Coupster. Your coupons and alerts are sent from Coupster, not directly from any vendor. Please see our privacy protection policy for more information.

Aren’t there laws against advertising on cell phones?
Yes, but Coupster doesn’t send unsolicited advertisements. The only information you will receive from Coupster on your cell phone is the deal alerts you sign up for and the coupons you specifically select. Coupster does not send any unsolicited information to your cell phone.

Coupster works with all major mobile providers in the US with regional carriers added on a regular basis.

At present, our service is for US users only.

Is there anything to download?
No. Unlike many services out there that require data plans, our service uses simple text messages. No costly downloads.

How do I set up my account?
Just go to “Get Coupster'd” on our homepage and enter your information. It takes just a few minutes to get started.

How can I cancel my subscription?
Just reply on any text message from us with the word “STOP” or log into your account and click the button that says “STOP”.
